Description

SHiP and the associate SPS Beam Dump Facility is a new general-purpose experiment at the SPS to search for "hidden" particles, as predicted by numerous Hidden Sector models, which aim to explain phenomena such as dark matter, neutrino oscillations, and the origin of the Universe’s baryon asymmetry. The construction of SHiP was approved in 2024, and it is considered one of the flagship CERN projects for the next 15 years, aimed at the intensity frontier. In this talk, the physics motivation of SHiP will be discussed along with the experiment status and setup.
