Description

Proton therapy for cancer treatment requires a thorough understanding of proton physics, the bio-physical processes of tissue damage and the patient themselves. Such a multi-scale problem poses many interesting challenges. Starting with the physics based advantages of proton therapy, in this presentation we will investigate the different layers of complexity and uncertainty encountered in the daily treatment of the biologically complex, and changing patient, to reveal the fascinating problems facing medical physics research in the future.
